Remedies for Sunburns

With summer at its peak, it is too difficult to escape from sunburns.

Although we tend to cover our body while traveling so as to avoid the sweltering heat, sunburns still happen.
If not treated in time, they can penetrate deep into the skin and cause extensive damage, and even increase the risk of melanoma, a serious skin cancer.Sunburns are characterized by reddening of skin, followed by severe blisters. But it takes only 5 simple ways to treat it.
 Here are some home remedies for Sunburns;
1. Applying fresh Aloe Vera gel to the damaged area helps the epidermis of skin to recover faster. The nutritive mineral zinc present in this healing plant is anti-inflammatory and prevents the skin from swelling.
2. Sandalwood has natural cooling properties heal the blemishes on your skin and reduce the swelling and redness.

3. For soothing effect, place chilled cucumber slices on the burn or dab on some cucumber and apply it on sunburns.
4. Wash your face with Sharose/Shamint (skin tonners). It reduces swelling on your face.
5. Yogurt is both cooling and soothing. These properties provide the inflamed skin with temporary relief and reduce the swelling.
Remember, Prevention is better than cure. Make sure you reduce your exposure to the sun or cover your skin properly with Shablock/Shascreen when you are out in the sun.
